After much searching and many unsuccessful attempts to try and contact EA I have found the solution that makes Spore work on Vista!!! Before I give the solution, let me describe the problem I encountered so anyone having this issue can see that this solution will work for them to. I was able to download Spore, however, when the download was completed I only received a message to open the Read Me file and finish the download. There was no desktop icon and the icon wasn’t in the Programs in the start menu. So I did a few searches and found a possible solution that someone used when Spore Creature Creator wasn’t working. What you do is go to the C Drive, Program Files, Electronic Arts, Spore, Sporebin and in the Sporebin folder you will see an application called SporeApp. Right click on SporeApp and click Create Shortcut. Doing this creates a shortcut on your Desktop and presto change-o all of the sudden Spore works. It’s a miracle!!! Ha! Maybe Spore.com should include these instructions on their website and make it easier to contact them. What an aggravating process, their toll-free number sucks, it’s all automated…..their online help desk sucks too, there are no good suggestions…..and my question that I submitted is still unresolved. Oh well, even though their support sucks at least someone posted the solution on the web. So hopefully I can pass on the information to some other frustrated individual. Now it’s time to Spore!!!
